My Kind of Bouquet / Some Days / U is for Umbra - Caroline Laganas

My Kind of Bouquet

If liars were Pansies,

rumors were Snapdragons,

ex-best friends were Posies,

heartbreaks were Forget-Me Nots,

I picked enough to be a Black-Eyed Susan.

Some Days

Some days the sun shines brighter,

melting every detail together

like a string of golden honey

dipping into a warm cup of green tea.

Some days my eyes glitter

brighter than constellations

while tears of joy trickle down my face

like the Celestial River.

Some days make me wish

there were enough thank you cards

in the stationary shop on Abbot Kinney

to write one for everyone

who runs through a vein in my heart.

Some days I skim through a dictionary

to try to explain this feeling I have

but there are no words to describe

just how extraordinary some days can be.

U is for Umbra

Under U

you will find Umbra.

Noun: the shadow cast

by a celestial object

entirely blocking out

illumination.

Under U

you will find Umbra.

Pronoun: the shadow cast

by you

entirely blocking out

my illumination.
